The main entrance to the Foro Italico is situated at the bridge Duca d'Aosta. This leads to Piazza De Bosis, where there is a huge obelisk in Carrara marble, dedicated to Mussolini and 36.3 metres high (including the base).
The broad Viale del Foro Italico, entirely mosaic of white and black stones leads to Piazzale del Foro Italico.
On either side of the street there is the former Accademia di Musica (Music Academy), today ISEF palace and seat of the auditorium of RAI, on the left there is the indoor pool (ex Palazzo delle Terme), where there are floor and wall mosaics.
On the right is situated the headquarters of CONI, consisting of two wings connected by a floating construction.
At the centre of Piazzale del Foro Italico is the Fontana della Sfera, a monolith with a diameter of 3 meters, surrounded by mosaics.
At the lower end there is the Olympic Stadium, the old Stadio dei Cipressi consisted of simple grassy terraces, from which in 1937 the construction of the walls was started, but then interrupted because of the war.
The new stadium that can seat 80,000 people has been built zwischen1950 and 53. It was almost entirely rebuilt for the football world cup in 1990 by using prefabricated elements and a coverage of a structure with a grid system that has certainly caused considerable damage in relation to the environment and the surroundings.
On the right side of the Olympic stadium, there is the Stadio dei Marmi, surrounded by 60 statues of athletes, at the central platform there are two groups of wrestlers in bronze.
Among other sports facilities (tennis courts, Olympic swimming pool, etc.), the Foro Italico complex includes several important buildings: La Farnesina, seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Casa Internazionale dello Studente, the Palazzi della Foresteria buildings that enclose the complex in the north and south.
